Why is the conveyor belt slipping?
Mar 17, 2018

When the conveyor belt is in normal operation, the belt speed is not lower than 95% of the rotation speed of the drum. If the friction between the roller and the conveyor belt is insufficient, the conveyor belt tends to slip. There are many reasons why the friction between the roller and the conveyor belt is not enough. The common ones are: insufficient tension, load start, and insufficient friction coefficient on the roller surface.

The reasons for insufficient tension are: insufficient tensioning stroke, insufficient weight of counterweight, long conveyor belt, etc.;

The reasons for the insufficient surface friction coefficient of the roller are: too much wear on the surface of the roller, excessive wetness of the belt body or sticky lubricating oil, and sticky material on the surface of the belt body (which is prone to swelling by water).
